The usual Friday night Christmas themed festival will transform to a street carnival on Brilliant St after ongoing constructions on campus were taking up too much space.
The carnival's new time slot is this Saturday October 12 from 6-9pm
St Joseph Catholic School Principal Helen Wade said they were undertaking some significant construction to so they had to think outside the square and shake things up a bit.
"After deciding on a street carnival we applied to Mount Isa City Council and we were able to close Brilliant St which is nice and close to the school," Ms Wade said.
Ms Wade said they were also using their indoor centre and car park to host the carnival.
"Everyone is really excited, we have food vendors coming in, inflatable rides, sideshow alley games, dunk show, entertainment from our dancing groups, school students and locals from the community.
Ms Wade said they also have cake stalls, bar and mega raffles with one worth $15,000.
When asked on how the school's construction was going, Ms Wade had good news.
"Construction is going really well, we are building 14 new classrooms, a library, new learning support amenities, playground and a community space which we are hoping for full completion in March," she said.
