The theme this year was "Take Time- For Mental Health" and this was exactly what participants did at the meditation sessions provided.

Participants learnt six simple actions to improve mood, build residence and boost wellbeing including being active, continuing to learn, to give back, to connect with others and to take notice and care for the planet.

Mount Isa PCYC partnered with Principal Consultant at Thrive Rural- Strengthen the Bush, Sarah Choyce.

Sarah is also a registered nurse and supports Australians in rural, regional and remote areas to prioritise their health and wellbeing through training.

Over 30 members of the public attended two complimentary sessions at PCYC over the week and also received a small gift bag for attendance.

Acting Branch Manager Constable Aimee Sewell said the sessions provided benefits to both attendees and the community as a whole.

"PCYC were grateful to work collaboratively with an industry professional to benefit the mental health outcomes for our community," Constable Sewell said.

"A number of participants stated that they learnt valuable skills and knowledge in relation to meditation and its short and long term benefits."

This event was supported by the Queensland Mental Health Commission and Queensland Alliance for Mental Health.
