The largest youth organisation in Mount Isa held an employment conference and workshop at the Mount Isa Civic Centre which saw businesses from around the town not only express positions of availability but also information on how to land a job.
General manager for YPA Albin Hava said the employment conference was one of the creative and flexible approaches to support clients as they journey into making small steps towards a more positive and fulfilling future.
"Today is about having that opportunity to talk to employers and have a go," Mr Hava said.
"It's good to have a job but at the end of the day we need support to get that gig. It's also about the journey for the job seeker."
Mr Hava said Mount Isa was filled with opportunity with its high unemployment rate, especially among youth.
"The conference is a great chance to boost and try and help people with job creations to get the career they want. We even have a number of businesses that have vacancies here today (October 15).
The Australian Government with its regional employment trials initiative provided funding to YPA to host the employment conference and workshops
YPA supports young people between the ages of 12 to 25 years. YPA at present has over 15 highly experienced and professional youth workers, who work from a strength based approach and are very hands on when working with young people and their families.
