So it looks like I am in Mount Isa for the long-haul, after my marriage to a local cattleman on Saturday October 5.

I never thought that I would live in Queensland long-term, let alone meet a guy, have a baby and get married within my four years here.
Although I cannot say I wasn't warned.
When I first came to Mount Isa, I only had a 12 month plan: further my career in journalism before returning to a paper close to home in New South Wales.
When I spoke to locals about my short plan, they would reply with "I was only suppose to be here for a year and have been in Mount Isa for 30" or "you'll be here longer then you expect."
Although I didn't believe them at the time, they were right.
I fell in love with many elements of North West Queensland, my job at the North West Star, the heat, the outback lifestyle and for some unknown reason my mullet and bearded husband haha.
Despite living 2000 kilometres from my hometown, I don't think I would want to live anywhere else.
Outback Queensland has many adventures to explore, oasis to discover and events to attend.
If anyone out here says they are bored, they are clearly not looking hard enough.
Social season is one of the highlights of the year, with the opportunity to experience a vast variety of events including camel races, rodeo, campdraft, charity events and gala balls.
But by-far I love the weather the most.
Coming from New South Wales I hated the cold, so moving to North Queensland for 40+ degree days suited me fine, but when the summer rain arrives is the moment I cherish the most.
With little to no rain for the majority of the year, I really enjoy when the monsoon sets in. Being out on our station makes me appreciate it more, when it turns everything green and the cows happy.
Wet season is also the time we pull up from mustering so we get to cherish more moments with family.
Even though I never expected to settle down in outback Queensland, I could never have imagined anything more perfect.
