The opening match was between Cloncurry and Warrigals in a high scoring contest.
Both sides remained competitive until Cloncurry took over with the end score reading a 55-31 victory.
Cloncurry coach Novak Daniels said his side had gotten off to a great start.
"The boys played really well especially Geofrey Wilson in his first ever game," Daniels said.
"Wilson's debut was one to remember having claimed himself two tries."
Coach Daniels pointed out Wilson had some experience with the oval ball.
"He plays rugby league for Cloncurry so he already has a lot of skill," he said.
Daniels said another player who stood out for his side also had Rugby League experience.
"Henry Butler our half-back plays for Blackstars in league and has such brilliant leadership and direction in ordering where all of his players should be."
Daniels said on the opposite side of the field, it was Chris Lucas who dominated the play for Warrigals particularly as they had low numbers.
In the second match, Euros were able to get their revenge against Keas following their Rugby sevens final last week.
The Euros younger legs proved too deadly as they out ran the Keas by a whopping 47 point win.
The final scoreboard read Euros 52 defeated Keas 5.
Round 2 will be played this week on Saturday October 26 at the Alma Street rugby union fields.
Warrigals vs Keas at 6pm. Cloncurry vs Euros at 8pm.
