An excess of 3000 fishermen and families will spend the weekend lakeside in support of the Mount Isa Fish Stocking Group's major fundraiser.
Funds raised will go towards purchasing fingerlings to restock the lake with local species, and maintain the viewing hatchery at Outback at Isa.
Event coordinator Tiffany Waddell - Wood said there was something for everyone with plenty of events that took part over the three day event.
"In 2018 the competition changes a little with the $50,000 barramundi no longer being released, however now we provide multiple major prizes," Ms Waddell - Wood said.
"We have Senior and Junior nomination prizes which act like a raffle ticket. $50 for seniors to go into the draw to win a black series camper trailer and $15 for juniors to go in the draw to win an entertainment package. This is open to the whole community not just anglers."
Ms Waddell - Wood said there was still prizes across all 20 fishing categories.
"We have cash prizes for the heaviest fish and have prizes like a Webber barbecue, camp ovens and portable speakers for the smaller categories," she said.
"We also have a pluck a duck competition which takes place on land and water to win a prize and the lucky gate prize which is two adult passes to the Gold Coast theme parks."
The event will kick off at 12 noon on Friday October 25 with nominations open all weekend.
A free movie night will be held on Friday evening showing Moana and Saturday will have a live band and fireworks.
Fishing closes at 10am on Sunday with a presentation to follow at 12 noon.
