Four community and sporting groups have shared in more than $12,500 thanks to Council's Community Grants program, with the funds to be used for projects that will significantly enhance the valuable work the groups do in Mount Isa.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (for the State Emergency Service) will receive $5000 for the purchase and upgrade of suspension for the SES trailer.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the SES does a remarkable job in the community, and its volunteers are often seen assisting at Council-organised community events.
The Mount Isa Campdraft Association will receive $5000 to install a functional kitchen to be used for catering for campdrafts and other events at its Bendall Drive premises.
Association Secretary Lisa Pratt said the Association is a great little community and is getting increasing numbers of people using its grounds.
"We're getting more people from stations coming in and using it for challenges and for horse schools, which is bringing more people to town which supports everyone," Ms Pratt said.
C&K Sunset Community Kindergarten will receive $1762 to purchase an Apple TV and HD TV screen with speakers, to enable the children to engage in research topics, exercise sessions and other group activities.
Kindergarten Director Diana Gomez said the funding would be very helpful for all of the kindergarten's teachers and students.
The Mount Isa Hockey Association will receive $819 to purchase new hockey goal nets for its Sports Parade grounds.
Association Secretary Janita Green said the Association is currently in a rebuilding phase, with a lot of work done on the grounds and facilities.
"We are working on our five-year plan to eventually upgrade the clubhouse, which desperately needs a bit of a facelift. And we have got some turf going down shortly, that will be of benefit to not only our senior players but also our upcoming junior players," Mrs Green said.
Cr McCulloch said Council was always happy to support Mount Isa community and sporting groups and she encouraged all groups to apply for Council's Community Grants funding.
