Mr Byrnes presented the books to Mayor Joyce McCulloch and Major Benjamin Edwards, saying he wanted to show his respect for the upcoming remembrance day on November 11.
Major Edwards said Mr Byrnes was donating the war books to the Mount Isa library as part of the commemoration of remembrance day.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said she really appreciated all donations and all of Barry's contributions toward the community.
"He is very conscientious of history and how it all fits in around the world," Cr McCulloch said.
