Kerr scored a brace in the Matildas' 2-1 win over Chile in Sydney on Sunday, taking her tally to 40 goals in her last 40 games for club and country.

The 26-year-old Australian skipper has been heavily linked with a number of overseas clubs, including Chelsea and six-time Champions League winners Lyon.

Kerr has spent the past six years playing non-stop in both the Australian and in the United States' summers.

Goalkeeper Williams says Kerr's impending move to Europe can help the Matildas to win medals.

"We want to continue to grow the W-League, but we also want our best players to play in the best competition they can to better themselves," Williams told RSN.

"Sam has been going back-to-back for quite a number of years, so now she's decided to go on to another challenge, which is great for her and helps our national team.

"Obviously we would love to see her back in Australia, but at the end of the day, we want to win medals for the national team. Whatever we need to do to do that, that's the focus."

Williams was also delighted with the home crowd of 20,029 at Bankwest Stadium.

"It was incredible to see the public and how much Australian fans love football and women's football. It's really touching."

Next up for the Matildas is another friendly against Chile in Adelaide on Tuesday, and coach Ante Milicic has hinted at a number of changes.

It will be Australia's final match before their Olympic qualification campaign begins in February.

"Everyone has to be ready," Williams says.

"The beauty of the team is that people have to switch on and it's another test for them to make sure that they're ready."
