Over 100 people paid their respects to fallen servicemen and women at the Mount Isa Cenotaph on the front lawns of the Civic Centre on Remembrance Day, Monday November 11.
The ceremony was led by Mount Isa RSL sub-branch member Jim Nuttall and included speeches from distinguished guests including Robbie Katter followed by the laying of wreaths at the cenotaph.
Ex soldier Scobie Beasley said it was not important to them as individuals, rather it was important to remember those who the country lost as a whole.
"Their sacrifice is the ultimate price," Mr Beasley said.
"I did two tours of Vietnam, after the first one we didn't get the best response once we returned home.
"We stuck with it and went back for a second tour.
"Now I have been in Mount Isa over 40 years and worked in the mine," he said.
Ex serviceman Val Branagan said he was there because a couple of his friends died while serving in Iraq.
"I am here to remember them," Mr Branagan said.
"I am originally from the United Kingdom and joined the forces in 1986, I served in Iraq in the nineties."
Mr Branagan said he moved to Mount Isa about three years ago to work in the mines.
