In conjunction with the Salvation Army, Kmart is calling for donations to provide gifts to families in need this holiday season.
Event organiser Kathleen Fitzpatrick said there were a number of ways that residents could get involved.
"Locals deliver donated unwrapped gifts into the store or they could purchase a gift card," Ms Fitzpatrick said.
"This Year Salvation Army will set up a hub, where parents can walk in and choose a gift, personally wrap the present and have it under their tree on Christmas morning."
Ms Fitzpatrick said 15 presents had already been donated during the launch.
"There are a lot of people who are in need, and the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is a great way to support them," she said.
"Locals can come in and donate presents up until the week before Christmas."
