The basketball camp will run from December 16-18 in the Spinifex State College courts and is run by ex-state league player Brent Shepperd.
Mr Shepperd said he loves the game of basketball and wants to give back what he has learned over the years.
"I have a massive background in basketball, having played for Queensland under 18s and being involved in the Australian Institute of Sport," Mr Shepperd said.
"Unfortunately I can't play anymore due to injuring my knee so I can only coach."
Mr Shepperd said he noticed there wasn't a great deal of sport for kids in the holidays so he thought why not run a basketball camp.
"The camp will run for three days, for ages eight to 13 for five hours each day from 9am to 2pm, and food and drink will be supplied," he said.
"There will be court positioning, movement, stretching and all of the fundamentals until we progress into more of a fun environment and towards the end there will be a lot of games and activities."
