Queensland Rugby Red players Angus Blyth and Josh Nasser recently visited Three Sons Fitness gym in Mount Isa as part of a three-day 'Reds to Regions' visit across Queensland on Monday November 18.
Reds players and staff were split up and they visited a total of 22 regional hubs including Mount Isa and other country communities of Longreach and Roma and coastal cities Cairns, Townsville and Mackay.
Angus Blyth said the key focus for the regional tour was for the players to connect with the Queensland community through visits to local rugby clubs, schools, hospitals, councils and sponsors.
"It gives us a chance to talk to the community and come into programs like the Battlewon program and inform kids on how a professional sports career works," Blyth said.
Battlewon creator John Doyle said the visit was not possible without the help of Mount Isa rugby coordinator Kurt McGregor.
"It's great having community minded people like Kurt who helped sort out this visit and now thanks to him these kids get to see what professional athletes do and how their lives work," Mr Doyle said.
"I expect the kids will pick their brains during the Q and A session."
Josh Nasser said they had also done a tour of the town and visited senior men's rugby sides, going through some training drills with them.
