According to Mining Queensland's Facebook post on Tuesday November 19, the mine south of Cloncurry was unable to provide information to the regulator to demonstrate that the risk to workers was at an acceptable level.
"The safety of Queensland mine workers is paramount and our inspectors will continue to work with the mine to ensure safe operations," the post said.
Eloise is privately owned by FMR Investments and was first discovered by BHP in 1987.
In 2004 Barminco Pty (now FMR Investments Pty Ltd) purchased the mine from Breakaway Resources and operated the mine and mill until it was placed under a care and maintenance program in November 2008 owing to the fall in commodity prices.
Mining operation recommenced early 2011.
