The Rethink Waste competition was created to get locals thinking about ways to reduce household waste but also reuse and create new ideas.
Winners were chosen from a dynamic field of entries with the winner of the Student category going to Mila Hanrahan.
Seven-year-old Mila's winning entry was a dress made from almost entirely old shopping bags, as well as old peach trays for the bodice.
She received her certificate and gift voucher from Mayor Joyce McCulloch at the Mount Isa City Library.
Cr McCulloch praised Mila for her piece, which she completed all by herself, as well as her excellent and commendable work in the community.
The PCYC/Barkly Highway State School Outside School Hours Care class won the Class category for their "raincloud" piece, made of old pillow filling, chicken wire, fishing line and bottle caps.
The winner of both the Individual and People's Choice categories was awarded to Ciemon Scotney for her "miniature garden".
This entry was created using plastic drinks bottles, reclaimed timber from wooden pallets, and old plastic flowerpots. The materials were either collected as rubbish or given away by friends and family.
Ciemon said she chose to use the plastic bottles as they each take more than 450 years to break down in the environment - even then, they never truly biodegrade and simply become smaller particles of plastic.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch presented Ciemon with her certificate and a $100 Kmart gift card.
Cr McCulloch congratulated Ciemon on her efforts and said it was the most impressive example of recycled art she had seen.
