Mount Isa Headspace centre celebrated hitting a significant milestone of its fifth birthday on Friday November 15.

Since they opened their doors in 2014, the centre has provided over 1400 appointments to 12 - 25 year olds from Mount Isa and the surrounding areas improving the well-being of young people.
Community Engagement Officer for Headspace Margaret Tautiepa said with the support of local community organisations, she knows they are making a difference to the lives of many young people in Mount Isa.
"We have psychologists, a GP, mental health nurse, dietitian and exercise physiologist that come in on a regular basis," Ms Tautiepa said.
"We also have a vocational team in our centre that are able to assist clients in seeking employment.
"We not only offer one on one support, we also offer programs and activities, which aim at engaging young people based on their interests and as a soft entry option into Headspace."
Ms Tautiepa said Headspace Mount Isa were always looking for young members from ages between 16 - 25 years old to join their Youth Reference group.
"They help give advice to how providing a service that is relevant to the young people of Mount Isa; they help plan and run events in the community, find creative ways to break the stigma on mental health; connect with other amazing young people."
Headspace Mount Isa is located at Suite 1, 2 West Street and offer confidential and youth friendly services at no cost for people aged between 12 - 25 years.
These services include mental health support and counselling for a range of issues.
It provides advice on general health services, employment, education and other social and vocational services, and alcohol and other drug services.
