Queensland Health Director-General Dr John Wakefield opened the facility with Central West Hospital and Health Board Chair Jane Williams and Boulia Mayor Rick Britton.
The new primary health centre is situated next to the 35-year-old previous centre which will be demolished.
The new centre includes an emergency area, treatment bay, X-ray room, four consultation rooms, pharmacy area, office and storage space, a reception and waiting area, staff rooms, amenities, two ambulance bays and an adjoining two-bedroom, self-contained staff accommodation unit with a secure corridor link to the main building.
Health Minister Steven Miles was unable to attend but delivered a video message saying the facility would be state of the art and provide a template for other remote health centres across Queensland.
Ms Williams said the wellbeing centre included a two-chair self-care dialysis unit and separate community meeting rooms and amenities.
"The new self-care dialysis unit will allow suitable clients access the facility at all times without having to relocate to Mount Isa or Townsville for nurse-assisted dialysis services," Ms Williams said.
Boulia Mayor Rick Britton praised the work of all three levels of government to make the new health centre happen and it would help keep people and services in town.
"The vision of Queensland Health to support the residents and staff to live in Boulia or provide temporary nursing care in a state-of-the-art facility is commendable," Cr Britton said.
The health service enlisted Alice Springs-based Purple House to provide advice and support for the dialysis unit.
