Commerce North West will elect a new president at its next meeting after Travis Crowther stepped down at last week's annual general meeting.
Mr Crowther, owner of the Boss Shop in Mount Isa, stepped down after eight years on the committee, the last seven years as president.
In his absence, seven people were elected to the new committee at the AGM at the Buffs last Wednesday however due to a new constitution adopted this year, no-one was elected into any official position.
That will be done when the committee meets for its next meeting.
The seven elected to the committee are: Justine Cole (TAFE), Jessica James (Ibis Styles), Jennifer Termine-Toth (Andii Mehay Events), Chris Boschoff (Heavymech), Nigel Rieck (Mount Isa Airport), Joe Castellano (4LM) Emma Harman.
Ms Harman will also take on part-time administrative position with the chamber in 2020.
In his final president's report Mr Crowther outlines many of the chamber's initiatives in 2019 including the business awards, the business brew weekly networking, the buy local gift card, the business seminar with Mark McCrindle, the Rodeo Best Dressed Premises, the dragon boat regatta at the Fishing Classic and networking events at Lake Moondarra and Ibis Styles.
The biggest event this year was MineX 2019 which he said had major changes this year including a Saturday opening and a closing concert event.
"There 2320 people at the Expo, 80 businesses and almost 100 exhibitor sites," Mr Crowther said.
"The trade and industry only day and business matching appointments, particularly allowed ofr industry representatives to meet the exhibitors."
Mr Crowther said the chamber compiled a comprehensive article on local labour shortages forcing people to look at the real issues facing regional areas.
"Commerce North West will continue working towards addressing this issue and partnering with local business, community, councils and government to advocate for a stronger economy, and support any initiatives that benefit our region's growth and sustainability," he said.
