A man has been charged with serious assault of a police officer in Mount Isa

At around 3.30pm on Friday November 22, police were attending an incident on Abel Smith Parade, when they observed a man acting aggressively in the street, calling people out to fight.
Police spoke with the man and offered to transport him to another location, which he accepted. When escorted to the police vehicle, it is alleged the man became erratic and aggressive towards police and began to punch the vehicle.
While being arrested, he pushed a female officer in the chest, causing her to fall over and sustain multiple injuries to her hands, knees and chest.
The man continued to obstruct a male officer and during the struggle, damaged the officer's taser.
A 28-year-old Pioneer man has been charged with one count each of serious assault police officer causing bodily harm, serious assault police officer, wilful damage of police property and commit public nuisance.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on November 27.
