Isolated storms crossed the North West but mostly missed the city.

Mount Isa only recorded 0.2mm on November 29 adding to a November total of 1.2mm.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rosa Hoff said the storms around the region were caused by an inland trough.

"An inland trough which was lying through the region was bringing moist conditions to the north of it," Ms Hoff said.

"Falls across the region were in the range of 10-20mm, but some areas missed out completely."

Cloncurry and Julia Creek were slightly more lucky.

Cloncurry recorded 4.5mm in town on November 24, adding to the November monthly total of 6.3mm.

Julia Creek was lucky enough to get under a few storms receiving 10mm on November 22, pushing the November monthly total to 14.4mm.

But the start of December has no sight of rain on the horizon, but drier conditions returning.

"For the week ahead, the inland trough that was bringing storms has moved east and is along the coast," Ms Hoff said.

"Because we no longer have that as a convergence of the winds, we won't see the same conditions for storms. Instead we will witness the return of dry conditions.

"The cooler temperatures will hang around for a few days before temperatures increase through to the weekend."

Mount Isa has zero chance of rain this week, with sunny conditions stretching across the region.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny and reach a top of 36 degrees, Wednesday 38 degrees, Thursday 40, Friday 41 and Saturday a top of 42.

Lake Moondarra is currently sitting at 53.8 percent while Lake Julius sits at 77.4 percent.
