The Stars defeated bitter rival and T20 winners the Bulls at Captain Cook Oval through the reliance of their deep batting order.
With a bit of rain forecast later in the day the Bulls won the toss and elected to bowl.
In the third over Bulls paceman Faisal Kahn (1-23) removed the dangerous Nadeesh for a duck with an unplayable yorker.
Not long after Alex Bateman (4) came and went hitting a low full toss to cover and Trent Cameron (4) was caught behind off a screamer by Michael Clarke.
The first drinks had the game in the balance at 3-56 off 10.
Scott Kyle (29) and Cam Conlan (46) steadied the ship dispatching the bad balls.
Kyle said Conlan was looking good with the bat but was caught on the boundary trying to bring up his 50.
The second drinks break read 5-133 with Cullis (31) and Tyrell (36) making sure the Bulls didn't roll through them.
"Tyrrell's innings was his highest score in over ten years," Kyle said.
The Stars finished on 9-223 with Patrick taking 2-56 off his eight.
The Bulls needed to get off to a strong start but Stewart (3-12) bowled pure line and length removing both openers LBW Clarke (1) and Jerome (8).
Then Cameron took a great catch on the boundary to get rid of Adrian Morrisby off his second ball faced.
With the Bulls in trouble at 3-20 skipper Jones then stood up with a fine 75.
But other than Clarke's 32 there was no others contributors to the score.
Bateman went on to finish off the Bulls with 4-28 off seven overs.
Bulls were all out for 144.

Kyle said the Stars had a bit of luck.
"We were pretty fortunate to come away with the win, if Bulls weren't short two players it may have been a different story," he said.
In the other match the Cavaliers forfeited due to not having enough players which gave the Panthers their first win of the season.
