Locals will decorate their vehicles and tour around Mount Isa on Sunday December 8 to view local Christmas light displays.
Event organiser, Megan Crowther, said the event was growing each year but was expected to be the biggest yet by hosting the event a week earlier.
"We had to change the date this year to accommodate Santa's busy schedule," Ms Crowther said.
"This is the eighth year and by hosting it earlier we hope to attract some local families before they go away for holidays."
Locals attending the tour will gather at the Barkly Hotel around 7pm where Santa will arrive in style. Prizes for the best dressed vehicle will take place and giveaways will be handed out. The tour will then commence at 7.30pm.
Ms Crowther said there were about 30 houses on her list for the tour so far.
"There will be a nice variety of lights for people to look at," she said.
"The cavalcade route will be finalised on Thursday (December 5) so everyone knows where we are going, and if anyone wants to do it separately.
"The route will be posted to the Mount Isa Christmas Lights Tour Facebook page."
Ms Crowther said her love for Christmas and the community pushed her to keep hosting this event.
"I love Christmas and have had my tree up nice and early," she said.
"Also there was no one doing it previously, so I didn't want to community to miss out, it's a lot of energy and time to put up those displays so it was a great way get the community together and have a look around the town."
Locals can still add their houses to the Cavalcade list, by posting it on the Mount Isa Christmas Lights Tour Facebook page.
