Almost 70 people showed up to the Mount Isa Rugby Union field to showoff their best sidestep as part of an NRL initiative.
The two part initiative called League Tag and Battlefields to Footyfields took place on Friday November 29 and could be a regular competition in the future.
NRL Referee Development Officer for North Queensland, Michael Inman said the turn out was great.
"68 people turned up to play league tag which was incredible and we had three games going at once," Mr Inman said.
"There was 35 open age and 33 juniors so it was great to have keen players from all ages getting involved.
"These numbers lets us know that there is a thirst for league tag in Mount Isa and hopefully it is a competition we can bring here."
Mr Inman said the night had opened up an opportunity for a competition to happen in Mount Isa.
"We believe it was a successful night and would like to thank everyone who was involved.
"The guys who took part as referees in the Battlefield to Footyfield initiative were able to get back into community and learn a lot.
"To have a total of 250 people play league tag across the North West region was an awesome outcome and we would like to thank all those who helped and those we spoke to."
