The announcement came in November at the chamber's annual general meeting as Commerce North West elected a new committee.
Mr Crowther said the highlight of his time in the chair was running the MineX exhibition initially as an annual event and now biennial since 2017.
"MineX seems to have been growing over the years even with the ups and down," Mr Crowther said.
"Like any business we have had to cut costs and we have done that successfully, we changed a few things around business wise.
"We've gone from having staff to having all volunteers and being able to outsource a lot of that work has kept expenses down."
Mr Crowther said there was always ebbs and flows in a mining town but he was confident Mount Isa improved where it could.
"You see what is happening around the place and there is always potential for this town," Mr Crowther said.
Now it is time for Mr Crowther to focus on his own business and spend more time with his family.
"My kids are getting older and older and they want me around more which is fair enough and I want to be there," he said.
"The shop (The Boss Shop) has been busier then ever, I get in at six in the morning every day and now I have more time to focus on it."
Mr Crowther's replacement as chamber president is Mount Isa Airport manager Nigel Rieck.
