It all happens on Sunday morning and North West Gymnastics say it is a chance to have fun and get hot and sweaty before cooling down at the Mount Isa City Council's Australia Day celebrations at Splashez later that afternoon.
North West Gymnastics have a special guest at the opening, Australian star Emily Whitehead, one of our brightest young talents
North West Gymnastics also say they have a special guest to attend the opening, Australian star Emily Whitehead, one of Australia's brightest young talents.
A member of the Victorian team that has won five consecutive team gold medals at the Australian Gymnastics Championship, Whitehead has proved to be ultra-consistent in individual apparatus at the Championships, finishing in the top five on 18 occasions since 2011.
The 2015 Championships was her best yet at national level, as she finished on the podium in all five Individual Apparatus events - winning the All-Around Junior International title, also claiming Gold on Uneven Bars and the Floor.
Emily was selected to represent Australia at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships and Olympic Test Event but unfortunately was unable to compete after injury in training at the Pacific Rim Championships.
Whitehead has bounced back from injury with good international form including a 10th All-Around at the 2017 L'International Gymnix, Senior International Cup in Canada, and a Silver medal on Vault at the 2018 Melbourne World Cup.
She was selected for the 2018 Commonwealth Games team where she won Bronze on Vault and in the Team Competition and placed 5th on the balance beam.
She will be on hand to tell her story in Mount Isa this weekend.
North West Gymnastics say Sunday will be a chance for the public to come and celebrate with them and explore their new gym space.
There will be prizes, circuits for the kids, a tour of our facility and a chance to meet Miss Emily, have a photo and even purchase a signed poster for $10 on the day.
There will be classes and session times will be extended to 45 minutes on the day of the opening.
The new gym is at 15 Flower Street.
