The 23 new teachers were welcomed with open arms on Friday January 24 at Spinifex State College Senior Campus.
Spinifex principal Phil Sweeney said he felt fortunate to have such talent joining his team.
"We are super excited to be heading into the new decade with 23 brand new teachers," Mr Sweeney said.
"A lot of our new staff were actually here last year as part of an orientation program so it's fantastic to see them return and take a full time position.
"They are very enthusiastic and we are really privileged to have such young and bright educators joining our team."
Mr Sweeney said for many of the new teachers it is their first time on the job.
"There will be a lovely blend of fresh and experienced teachers in our squad."
One teacher named Aaron Baigent even came all the way from New Zealand.
Mr Baigent said he always wanted to teach in rural Australia.
"I felt like an outback adventure so I thought why the heck not," Mr Baigent said.
"I have been teaching for 14 years now but previously only as primary, this will be my first time as secondary and I am really looking forward to it."
First year teacher Jessica Barnes said she fell in love with Mount Isa when she attended a teachers orientation day in November last year.
"I am glad I came out for the orientation and got a feel for the place, it helped me with my decision," Ms Barnes said.
First year teacher Emily Carseldine said her and Jess were friends from the same university.
"Jess and I actually went to the same university together back on the Queensland coast and decided to come out to Mount Isa together," Ms Carseldine said.
"We were here for the orientation last year and we just fell in love with the school and the Mount Isa community, it's such an inclusive place and we knew we had to choose this place.
"We both teach math and science to years seven, eight and nine."
