The 33-year-old has signed an 18-month deal taking in the rest of this A-League season and next summer's campaign.
The Glory will be Elrich's fourth A-League club after playing 278 games at Newcastle, the Wanderers and Adelaide United.
Elrich said linking up with former Wanderers coach Tony Popovic had been a big driver in his move west.
"Tony taught me a lot and this is a great time to work under him again," he said.
"Perth Glory is a successful club with a rich history in both the NSL and A-League and I want to help the club to continue that success.
"I've had a taste of silverware in the past and want more.
"I know a lot of the boys in the squad, especially Liam Reddy who I've known half my life and that made the decision to move over a lot easier."
Elrich is a two-time A-League championship winner and was capped three times by the Socceroos in 2015.
His signing means the Glory have filled their quota of players in their A-League squad and gives them extra defensive cover ahead of the start of the Asian Champions League group stages next month.
