Walk Ride Run for Palliative Care founders Liz Debney and Rowena Murphy have been walking buddies for a long time and it was not until Ms Debney lost her husband suddenly to pancreatic cancer that they decided to not only raise funds but also awareness.
Ms Murphy said her and Liz had always talked about the plunge from Cloncurry to Mount Isa.
"We were always interested in the idea of riding, but then we started walking hills," Ms Murphy said.
"The walk is open to anyone who is interested in joining and is scheduled to take about six days.
"Some parts the track will be along side the road and in other places we are going bush and down creeks, so more of a scenic route.
"It's not a race, there is a support crew who will bring all the lunches and stores all the swags so everyone is comfortable," Ms Murphy said.
Ms Murphy said the aim was to raise money for palliative care.
"Palliative care is something not many people talk about and yet so many people go through it or least know someone who has," Ms Murphy said.
"We want to raise enough money for a cuddles bed which is essentially a large double bed where the families can lay with their sick loved ones.
The Walk Ride Run for Palliative Care leaves Cloncurry on June 28 and arrives in Mount Isa campdraft arena on July 4.
