The traffic jam was not caused by a half price sale at worn out west but was due to a truck breaking down in an awkward spot on Grace St bridge.
One motorist said he had moved 100m in 30 minutes.
"I have no idea whats going on and I have hardly moved in half an hour, I am running late to work," the motorist said.
Mount Isa Police Sergeant Todd Nobel said it was due to a truck breaking down.
"A large truck unfortunately broke down just over the bridge so we are conducting traffic and the bridge is out of action until we clear the truck," Sgt Nobel said.
