Ms Slade said she had been very vocal over the last few years and now it was time to stand up.
"Our team is representative of our community and is not linked to any organisation or political party and will be announcing the members of the Mount Isa Community Team shortly," Ms Slade said.
"We have a diverse team, which will hopefully represent different sections of our community. It was important that we share the same values, but bring different strengths to the team and Mount Isa.
"I grew up in Mount Isa, I love our city, the people and the strong sense of community. I want my kids to grow up here and have the same experiences and opportunities that I did growing up."
Ms Slade said she had been a local ratepayer for 33 years and this was the first time she feel rates and water charges have gotten out of control.
"While we intend to remind residents of the past actions of our current council, we will be running a positive campaign, talking about the future of our city and region, polices, facts and figures, definitely not personalities. I believe people who run for any office, do so with the best intentions," she said.
"If all our team is elected, we want to give residents the choice of how they want to pay for water, a water allocation or the two-part tariff. We also want a huge emphasis on transparency and community engagement.
"Our main focus will be on how we can reduce rates and water charges while improving current services."
Ms Slade said she would be reinstating the discount for paying rates on time.
"We will also be reinstating residents free 50 kL of water for footpaths, which have all been removed in the last four years by our current council," she said.
"Community safety will also be a huge focus for us and our team intends to work with and support all organisations involved with prevention, intervention and rehabilitation strategies for youth crime and crime in general.
"Our election promise to Mount Isa will be that our term will be absolutely about making Mount Isa an affordable, safe place to live while ensuring sustainable development."
