Seven cast members have been rehearsing for their newest production 'Unnecessary Farce', with the opening night dated for Friday March 6.

MITS publicity manager Jenelle Robartson said the production was a comedy where the characters get involved in ludicrous situations and the more they try to fix them, the more ridiculous it gets.

"You've got a couple of police officers who are organising a sting operation to try and catch the corrupt accountant and work out what has happened to the $16 million dollars missing," Ms Robartson said.

"So they've set up some surveillance equipment and it ends up getting a bit confusing wondering who is actually guilty and there is a lot of crazy stuff."

The production is written by an American author called Paul Slade Smith and directed by local Robert Glanville.

Ms Robartson said this style of production was very popular.

"This is a more modern production, writing it recently, it has a lot more fun twists," she said.

"This production will be running every Friday and Saturday until March 28."

Unnecessary Farce is for people over the age of 16.

Tickets are $40 which includes a two course meal and can be purchased from Impulse Boutique.
