This weeks rain along with harsh wind has caused several call outs for the State Emergency Services in Mount Isa and Boulia.
Mount Isa SES Area Controller, Gordon Graham said a lot of their call outs could be prevented.
"We did four houses last night that were getting hammered by water damage. But in all four cases it came down to the owners not clearing their gutters properly," Mr Graham said.
"Overtime all the debris builds up and before you know it there is real damage there, or even holes in the roof from screws being taken out.
"We just want everyone to be aware of their roofs and gutters, and if you are a renter to contact your owner and try to arrange someone to do some maintenance."
On Monday night SES was called 300km all the way out to Boulia due to strong winds.
"Boulia suffered severe winds so harsh that a roof was completely ripped off one place, luckily no one was hurt," Mr Graham said.
