One of the most popular events of the year, Mount Isa Race Club are expecting between 1500 to 2000 racegoers on Saturday March 14.
Mount Isa Race Club president Mick Tully said there was a number of events happening on and off the track.
"We have a good field of 42 nominations across five races, with the main race of the day being the Mount Isa City Council St Paddy's Day Open," Mr Tully said.
"Gates open at 11am with the first race jumping around 2.15pm, we tend to start later when the conditions are warmer.
"This is also one of the biggest race meetings for Fashions on the Field, with some great prizes to be won."
Mr Tully said the $20 entry also provided TAB, bookies and entertainment for the evening.
"We have got Pacific Groove performing after the racing," he said.
"And we also have a sprint foot race, to try something a bit different. We have been to other events where they have one meeting a year and they generally have a foot race, so we thought we would give it a go."
Mr Tully said this was one of the biggest events on the racing social calendar and not to be missed.
"It is a good time of the year, there is not a lot on that weekend and provides a nice time for locals to socialise and enjoy the races," he said.
"We already have about 800 bookings so we will have marquees out on the lawn as well."
