A decision taken at the Council meeting on March 16 means the Camel Races, Boulia's biggest event of the year is off.
It is a huge blow to a town dependent on winter tourism.
Council said the meeting discussed the COVID-19 outbreak at length and what impact it would have if it came into the community.
"All councillors agreed that all events on the social calendar up to September 1 when this will be reviewed, subject to variation if the situation improves," Boulia Shire Council said.
Council also resolved to call a meeting of business owners in Boulia and Urandangie to review the future of events that involve gatherings of people.
The biggest impact is to the Camel Races Festival on the weekend of July 17-19.

Also cancelled are the Easter Races, campdraft and rodeo, the races not running despite Racing Queensland saying races could go ahead for now without patrons.
The Min Min Encounter Show at the Visitor Information Centre will also close though the Visitor Information Centre will remain open.
The town's Anzac Day ceremony is also cancelled in line with advice from RSL Queensland which has cancelled all April 25 activities across the state.
Council said these closures would have huge impact on local businesses but the businesses fully supported the move.
They quoted Bob Spillsbury, owner of the local store who said "We need to take care of our people in our communities and the most vulnerable."
Council said they were not aware of any impacts as yet to the supply of fuel, goods and services to Boulia.
