Sherrie Tuppurainen created the Facebook page 'Mount Isa Community Assistance Group' to help connect people who needed help with people who could help.
Ms Tuppurainen said locals were concerned and worried about the developing coronavirus situation and needed help and information.
"It started as a community page that was assisting and connecting people who need help, need information about what is happening nationally and locally, connecting people with other like-minded people and just sharing kindness during a unprecedented situation," she said.
"I recently shared information about Meals on Wheels needing delivery drivers for the next few weeks, so the page is used as the middle man to connect people, services and volunteers."

Ms Tuppurainen said it was also used to share community ideas on how to stay happy and healthy.
"A group opened on the page today (Tuesday March 24) called Find a Bear, this page encouraged locals to put a toy bear in their window to allow families to seek the bears while driving around town. This was a simple and great idea to keep kids and families entertained, out of the house but still secluded," she said.
"There are also other pages including useful heath tips, book club, free workouts and 100s of online virtual tours of museums and aquariums."
Ms Tuppurainen said she had seen a similar page for another town and felt like Mount Isa needed one too.
"I think everyone needs this page. Everyone is concerned about what is happening in the world and is worried about news changing consistently," she said.
"People need to feel connected even when they are staying at home they are not losing touch.
"In less than a week the page has grown to over 1600 followers."
Ms Tuppurainen said that anyone can join the page just search, Mount Isa Community Assistance Group on Facebook.
"Be kind, be healthy, and help."
