The Moreton Bay fig trees were removed last weekend by a local tree lopper, after an examination determined they had suffered from the effects of fungus rot and age and are now hollow.
The trees have been around for more than 20 years but now pose a public safety risk.
The remaining eight or so trees on that section of East Street are in satisfactory condition.
