Queensland has 62 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday raising the state total to 555.

The cases remain mostly concentrated in the south though Cairns and Hinterland now has 15, Central Queensland (Rockhampton) has 5, Darling Downs 17, Mackay 5, Townsville 13 and Wide Bay 6.
There remains no cases in North West Queensland nor Central West nor South West as the 31 western councils push for a total exclusion zone and state and civic leaders call for an end to FIFO to the regions.
Queensland Health said contact tracing is underway for the 62 new cases.

The majority of cases are from patients who have travelled overseas, or have had direct contact with a confirmed case who had travelled overseas.

Queensland Health is urging anyone who has been overseas in the last 14 days and has a fever or any respiratory symptoms to see a doctor immediately.
