Sunwater say they have closed all their dams including Lake Julius, 100km north-east of Mount Isa.
The decree applies to recreation areas, dams, lakes and weirs from Tuesday March 31 until further notice.
This includes: day trips, camping, land and water-based activities - swimming, boating, skiing and fishing and facilities - toilet and shower blocks, picnic areas, play equipment and look-out areas.
Sunwater said their primary concern was the health and safety of our people and the community.
"We must do all we can to limit the spread of COVID-19," they said.
Sunwater will continue essential operational activities at dams, lakes and weirs including on-lake surveillance and monitoring.
