On Friday the count moved forward another 55 votes to be 69% complete with 7742 votes tallied.
Danielle Slade has 3356 votes (44.38%), Joyce McCulloch has 3175 (41.99%) and David Fletcher has 1031 votes.
It means Ms Slade's lead has gone up from 171 to 181 since the previous tally.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Cr McCulloch's team said COVID-19 was their first priority and how we can all work together to protect our community was forefront in their minds.
"It is wonderful to see the Mount Isa community spirit shining during these unique times," they said.
"In the meantime, though, we await the updated counts from the election. The latest information we have received from ECQ is that the counting is continuing, with postal and phone votes still to go."
There have been some slight additions to the councillor poll too with 63.76% counted and it has strengthened the positions of the current top six elected positions.
Independent Kim Coghlan still tops the poll and five of the six current councillors are in the box seat to be returned.
