PCYC Mount Isa is calling for "Then and Now" photos of local youth to celebrate Youth Week this year.
With all Mount Isa Youth Week events cancelled due to COVID-19, PCYC got creative and established a virtual, fun way to celebrate Youth Week through a social media challenge.
Youth Support Officer Jazmyn Slater said young people between the age of 12 to 25 were encouraged to find a childhood photo and recreate it.
"We are asking youth to go through their childhood photos, choose one and imitate it, then put them side by side to see the difference now they are older," Ms Slater said
"Dress up in similar outfits, pull the same expressions, its fascinating as a viewer to see the glow up.
"We thought why people were essentially in lockdown, they can recreate photos with family and share them with PCYC and the community for Youth Week."
Ms Slater said this imitative was to keep youth engaged and honour them during Youth Week.
"We looked into some of the social media challenges that were quite popular with youth and this was one that stood out," she said.
"We already have a few submissions and they look amazing, but we want to encourage as many youth to get involved."
Local youth must send their entries to 0427 274 147 or firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday March 10. All submissions will be made into a video and posted to PCYC Mount Isa Facebook page in honour of Youth Week 2020.
