The Home Medicines Service is a temporary program, which aims to support and protect the most vulnerable members of our community from potential exposure to COVID-19.
It works as a fee per delivery payable to Australian pharmacies for the home delivery of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBS) medications thereby removing the need for a patient to visit a Pharmacy.
Area Manager Tanya Gallagher said as much as they would love to see everyone please stay at home.
"Amcal and Guardian pharmacy can deliver your medication safely to your home. Monday, Wednesday and Friday's delivery between 2pm and 4pm place order before 12pm on the days mentioned above for same-day delivery," Ms Gallagher said.
"We have an app called Med advisor that you can download on your smart phone and customers can view their medication list and receive prescription reminders place orders in advance.
"We have been delivering to our community for over 10 years and happy to deliver any over-the-counter products not just prescriptions we care for our community and staff please stay home."
Those eligible for the service must meet one of the following requirements.
- Isolating themselves at home on the advice of a medical practitioner, for confirmed COVID-19 cases.
- Meeting the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection after consultation with either the national COVID-19 hotline, state COVID-19 hotlines, a registered medical or nursing practitioner or COVID-19 trained health clinic triage staff.
- Aged over 70.
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and are aged over 50.
- People with chronic health conditions or who are immunocompromised.
- Parents with new babies or people who are pregnant.
- Vulnerable people, and those in home isolation, will be able to order their PBS and RPBS prescriptions remotely and have these items delivered to their homes to reduce their potential exposure to COVID-19.
