Cr Daniels, brother of former mayor Andrew Daniels, replaces Dane Swalling as deputy though Cr Swalling retains his seat on council having topped the poll.
Joining them are returning councillor Vicky Campbell and two other new councillors Nathan Keyes and Janessa Bidgood (whose father Keith Douglas was also a shire councillor).
Cloncurry now has five councillors and a mayor for the first time.
Mayor Greg Campbell was reelected unopposed.
The mayor and Cloncurry doctor Leonie Fromberg also gave an update on the COVID-19 as it affects Cloncurry.
Mayor Greg Campbell said these were tough and uncertain times but the town was lucky to have skilled medical personnel at Flinders Medical Centre and the hospital to look after the shire.
"We've got to follow the directions from our state and federal governments and look out for one another," Cr Campbell said.
"We've got great people at the schools looking after our kids and our daycare is still open."
Dr Fromberg, practice principal at Flinders Medical Centre and medical superintendent, said pandemics were scary but were not new.and society knew how to deal with them.
"Social distancing is really important," Dr Fromberg said.
"The hospital has implemented a series of changes. We aim to treat as many people as possible but our resources will be stretched if we don't all do the right thing."
Dr Fromberg said the Medical Centre was also keeping people with respiratory illnesses away from those with chronic disease.
"If you are not social distancing you are placing your neighbours, your friends, your parents, your sisters and brothers in jeopardy."
