Baby Amelia was born at Mount Isa Hospital at 3.25pm on Friday May 8, making Rachelle a first time mum in time for Sunday's special day for mothers.
Amelia Rose - a name the parents both liked - came in at a healthy 3.52kg and with both mum and bub well they came home on Sunday afternoon.
It wasn't quite perfect for the local couple as Rachelle explained.
"My stepmother was supposed come out from Hervey Bay for the birth and my mum was to come out later in the week, but of course they couldn't travel," Rachelle said.
Despite the pandemic the new family is settling in to their new life together, Rachelle on maternity leave from Mount Isa Insurance while Michael works at Spinifex High School.
"It's nice to be home with my husband," she said.
"It's mostly good, sometimes it's a struggle but we are getting the hang of everything.
Rachelle certainly is getting the hang of the new routine.
When the North West Star rang to talk to her, she said Amelia just had a feed and was now asleep.
We apologised in fear that we might have woken her up, but she replied "No, it's good - I have the phone on silent!"
