The team carried out a structured risk assessment of Dugald River's occupational health hazards that could cause harm and used this information to identify health hazards present on site and prevent harm to our people.
The team implemented controls required to minimise the risk to health from hazardous substances and other health hazards while ongoing health monitoring and surveillance for all staff and contractors at Dugald River, including contractors.
Dugald River also developed a Health and Hygiene Surveillance program, which includes physical medical examinations, comprehensive occupational and medical history checks, health education and promotion through technological devices and wellbeing workshops.
It has fed into a new Health Information Management System which automates employee appointment reminders, reduce no-shows and manage schedules.
It comes as MMG tries to contain the spread of COVID-19 at its sites.
As well as protocols for self-isolation and reporting, additional safety measures include pre-site arrival health checks, temperature and health screening, maintaining social distancing and hygiene and closure of site restaurants, cafes and entertainment spaces.
