Rugby League
With the season in hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Mount Isa Rugby League said it is seeking the help of players to complete a QRL Northern Region survey of senior players in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Mid West, Mount Isa, Cape York, Torres Strait and the Gulf to determine if and when restrictions are lifted if players would still be interested to participate in a reduced season structure. A go ahead has been given for NRL but not yet for community league in Queensland.
Mount Isa AFL
No update since March 7 when AFL Queensland said all AFL and AFL State association managed or operated leagues, along with all NAB AFL Auskick Centres,were to be postponed until May 31, 2020.
Mount Isa soccer
Football Queensland confirm May 13 all football activity across the state remains suspended. "We are awaiting clarification from the Queensland Government on several key matters as we work towards restarting the season," they said.
Mount Isa Hockey
On May 8 Mount Isa Hockey asked the local community to put their ideas forward to help Mount Isa Hockey establish a Return to Hockey Plan - Post Covid-19. Horse racing
Racing has returned to Mount Isa and Cloncurry though no spectators are allowed. The courses are part of the new western region with Roma, Charleville, Longreach and Barcaldine,
Campdraft
The Cloncurry Stockmans Challenge has been delayed until September while there is no decision yet on the Mount Isa campdraft scheduled July 2-5.
Rodeo
The Quamby, Cloncurry and Mount Isa rodeos have all been cancelled for 2020. Sedan Dip is still hoping to go ahead weekend of August 14-16.
Parkrun
No date has been set for a return to parkruns which include Mount Isa and Cloncurry. Parkrun is run out of the UK and Tom Williams Chief Operating Officer, Parkrun Global said it was now eight weeks since they closed all parkrun events across the world.
