The cloudy weather the Bureau of Meteorology promised has arrived already but not the medium (60%) chance of rain.
Though some places reported rain on Thursday there was zero in the official gauge at the airport in Mount Isa.
The BoM now says the chance of showers tending to rain periods at times will arrive late this afternoon and evening.
It will remain a cool day with temperatures not getting above 18 degrees.
There will also be rain up in the Gulf with an 80% chance for Normanton with rain easing tomorrow.
Saturday will be sunny in the Isa with a top of 20 and only a 5 percent chance of rain.
Sunday will be sunny and 21 with zero chance of rain.
It will be cold at nighttime on the weekend with temps dipping to six.
Warmer conditions will gradually return in the week and by Thursday it will be up to 27 max.
On Wednesday Lake Moondarra was 81.58% full while Lake Julius was 92.88%.
