Barely a week or so after Gidgee Healing had its royal audience (and CEO Renee Blackman's telling of the story is well worth the read) another branch of our medical services had a lovely surprise of their own.
In a video released Sunday, hit Brisbane band Sheppard said they wanted to play their new song called "Thank You" to surprise an audience that deserved it the most.
That audience turned out to be none other than Mount Isa's own Royal Flying Doctor team who were serenaded by the singing siblings on Zoom.
By the way, students of history might enjoy our story of how an accident at Mount Isa Mines in his earliest days in 1927 had a direct bearing on the birth of the RFDS a year later.
Meanwhile the gardeners of McKinlay Shire were also serenaded, by no less than garden guru himself Costa Georgiadis.
The Gardening Australia host will judge the Shire's gardening competition and he introduced himself to residents with a hello message video saying he hoped to get up to North West Queensland some point and say hello.
And why wouldn't he want to come to our beautiful part of the world.
It is slowly opening up after the restrictions with Carpentaria Shire now saying people from the Isa no longer need a permit to travel to Karumba.
With little likelihood of interstate or international visitors this winter, it's up to us to do our bit when it comes to an important SOS - Save Our Season.
