Jodie Hope, Regional Human Resources Lead for Glencore Australia, said that with almost 450 apprentices already working across their Australian coal, copper and zinc operations, they were now looking for next year's new recruits.
"Our program supports a variety of trades, including electrical, mechanical, fabrication, plumbing, carpentry and diesel fitting," Ms Hope said.
"We focus on local talent in the regional communities where we operate. In places like Mount Isa, Cloncurry, the Bowen Basin and broader Mackay region in Queensland; the Hunter Valley, Mudgee and Cobar in New South Wales; and McArthur River Mine in the Northern Territory Glencore provides an opportunity to earn while learning, with daily interaction and mentoring from some of the best in the business."

Cameron McCartney is a final-year Electrical Apprentice at Mount Isa Mines.
Cameron found himself working in Brisbane in a job he didn't enjoy. He applied for and was accepted into Glencore's Indigenous Employment Program, which also meant he could move back to his hometown of Mount Isa.
"This was the start of a very different career path for me and I haven't looked back. For me, this apprenticeship has provided financial stability and independence. I believe that adversity presents opportunities, and coupled with my perseverance and determination to succeed, I've been able to excel," Cameron said.
Application dates for Glencore's nationally recognised programs are:
- Glencore Coal: 21 May to 21 June 2020
- Glencore Copper and Zinc: 1 July to 31 July 2020
