In the last few weeks I've been sending these emails out on Friday.
But this week I wanted a wait a day because a little birdie told me of big news that was being announced on Saturday, the morning of Queensland Day.
That news was about Father Mick Lowcock, the Catholic parish priest of Mount Isa, who was named one of nine Queensland Greats for 2020.
In its 20th year, the Queensland Great awards recognise and celebrate extraordinary achievements and life-time contributions by Queenslanders to our state and to the world.
Father Mick has been an inspiration for his dedicated work to those less fortunate in our community.
If there were more priests like him, the Catholic Church would not have suffered the reputational damage it inflicted on itself in recent years.
Father Mick is self-effacing and of course preferred to see the award as a credit to others.
But we are lucky to someone of his stature in our community.
Just check out the reader comments about him on our Facebook page if you don't believe me.
Congratulations, Father Mick, a thoroughly deserved honour.
By waiting 24 hours there was also two other bits of news I can tell you about.
Firstly congrats also to police for their quick arrests of two youths after an armed robbery at the Irish Club on Thursday night.
Police arrested a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old, both boys, on Friday.
The CCTV footage of the incident proved very helpful in their investigations.
And over in Cloncurry a military engineering firm called QinetiQ Australia have won the contract to design and construct an unmanned aerial systems flight test range at Cloncurry Airport on behalf of the Queensland government.
The $14.5m flight test range will consist of access to a commercial quality runway, dedicated hangar and workshop, and range control centre.
It will be a world-class facility when it comes online later this year.
Enjoy Queensland Day and the rest of your weekend,
