The Gifted and Talented Program is available to all Year 6 students in Mount Isa and they can nominate to participate in one of the following programs: Science, Health and Physical Education, Art, Design Technology, and Gastronomy.
Event Organiser and Deputy Principal, Rebecca Lovelock said the program would begin the week of July 27 and run for 6 weeks during Term 3.
"Transport from each school will be arranged by Spinifex State College for Year 6 students to attend the afternoon sessions at our Junior Campus," she said.
"The successful students and their families will be notified through their primary school by July 17."
Miss Lovelock said that due to government restrictions, they would not be holding a launch night as done in previous years, and a decision regarding the culminating evening will be made based on what restrictions are in place at that time.
"We are very fortunate to be able to deliver this program through the generosity and support of Mount Isa Mines," she said.
Spinifex State College places great importance on the Gifted and Talented Program and the experience and confidence it gives to Year 6 students entering into high school the following year as it provides the students with a great head start.
Nomination forms are available from the Spinifex State College website or the Administration Office at the Spinifex State College Junior Campus. Completed forms need to be hand delivered in a sealed envelope to the Junior Campus Administration Office at 6-12 Fifth Avenue before 3pm on Friday June 26.
